Son thrusts readers once again into the chilling world of the Newbery Medal winning book, The Giver, as well as Gathering Blue and Messenger where a new hero emerges. In this thrilling series finale, the startling and long-awaited conclusion to Lois Lowry’s epic tale culminates in a final clash between good and evil.

Most standard middle-school curriculums now include the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, in their units as a study of utopian/ dystopian lives.  As with any mandated reading book, some people liked it, some people just trudged through it, and some just hated it.  Well I thought the Giver was a great book IF THEY TOLD US WHAT HAPPENS TO JONAS AT THE END.  Cliffhangers are not my best friend when it comes to books and this book completely left you hanging.  So although I liked how the author created such a realistic utopian world , I ended up not liking it.  But one day while I'm looking through the new books section at the library, I see, Son, the conclusion to Lois Lowry's trilogy.  AND I FREAKED OUT! :)  and I had quite a good reason to.

It's one of those good vs. bad stories, where the good wins :).  I wish that happened in real life too...As with all of Lois Lowry's books, it is mysterious though...So if you absolutely hate surprises with a passion, don't read it.  But even if you don't absolutely love twists in stories, please please PLEASE read this , for me at least.

Son completely ties together everything from the three previous books.  Although I hadn't read Gathering Blue and Messenger, you don't need to understand the message of this book.  It is confusing, but as are all her books.  It answers all the questions you were asking at the end of The Giver: Where did they go? Did they even make it through their journey?  Who was the boy?  You have to read the book all the way through.  YOU JUST HAVE TOOO...Sorry for screaming at you.. but you have to.  It is the perfect display of a mother's love for her son, and her son's love for his mother.  The sacrifices that our mothers make for us every day.  It's soo cute :)  My favorite part is when the good defeats the evil...yay!  And then the bad guy is destroyed and you never hear of him again...Yep I'm one of those girls that think the good people should always deserve to win.
