Summary: (Goodreads)
Best be nimble, best be quick, I'm right here and you're my pick...
The last thing Ford Elkhart remembers is walking his girlfriend back to her university dormitory. Now he's lying tied and gagged on a cold, dark floor, with only one chance to escape before he ends up like the bones surrounding him...
Assistant State's Attorney Daphne Montgomery is devastated by her son's disappearance, and is immediately convinced that his kidnapping is connected to the white supremacist she's just had jailed for murder.
FBI Special Agent Joseph Carter isn't so sure - especially when he learns that Ford's girlfriend is also missing. Is Ford's abduction payback for Daphne's courtroom victory? Or is he a pawn in an even more dangerous game?

Hey guys! Sorry I couldn't get this review out sooner! As you guys know, Claudz, Jenn, and I were planning a Humongo Tag post for out 103rd post and that took waaaay longer than I expected. Sadly, it's no longer October, but that doesn't mean we stop reading those scary novels! Scary novels all year round! Who's with me? I also really want to check out the new version of Carrie and I'm in the process of convincing Claudz that it's actually not that bad. With the help of Ryan Higa which just makes everything better, don't you agree?

Okay that is so horribly off topic. Back to the book. OMGAWD guys, Karen Rose has perfect mystery to it's finest again. I love her books so freaking much. Instead of one killer, there's two. They don't play equal games but it just ups the whole story to a brand new level!

This book takes revenge to a whole new level. It also really emphasizes in my point of view, the whole idea of miscommunication. This whole story is based off of that! It also brings into question that idea of what one should do when their past catches up with them.

Daphne is presented as this high profiled prosecutor who has just won a case against a murderer, Reggie Millhouse. Yet with his sentence confirmed, it unleashes her worst nightmare. Her son has gone missing and it seems the Millhouses are getting revenge for what she's done. Or are they? Because secretly, in a cabin somewhere, someone else is plotting against her.

Did I say there were two killers? Well there's like three now. The Millhouses which do hate her, but aren't exactly out to kill her and ruin her family. Then there's the other two. To prevent spoilers, let's call them K1 and K2 okay? K1 has done the kidnapping of Ford (her son) and has this hatred towards her, but we never find out until the very end - here is where miscommunication comes in. K2 is from her past and is a flat out disgusting guy who has destroyed many girls' lives including Daphne and her older cousin Kelly who's dead.

See the picture I'm painting? K1 did a little digging and came across K2 and his connection to Daphne and decided that it'd be a great way to give her the fright of her life. Now insert Joseph Carter, he has a "thing" for Daphne and promised her that he'd do anything to keep her safe and get Ford home to her. Yet somewhere along the book, the truth comes spilling out and there's this like 1 page but heart wrenching moment of doubt. Is she as innocent as she is?

OF course!  Anyway, I'm pretty much drawing you guys in circles right? Hope I succeeded, cause that's exactly what happens. The cops and Daphne are running around in circles trying to find out who is the real bad guy in this whole glob of events. In the end, the truth comes out and events make sense. So, in the end, everything will fit, for now, keep running in circles!! ;)

Happy November!

“Sometimes the most worthwhile things are right in front of our eyes. We just make them hard because we think that gives them more value.”

“When I get to the end of my life, I want to be able to look back and know that my
being here made things better."

“You okay, Ford? You might at well say something to let me know you're all right, at least physically, otherwise I'm capable of annoying you until you do. It's one of my special skills. So one more time. Are. You. Okay?”

3 out of 5 stars

Foreverly Obsessed,
